Intro ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello and welcome to my tenth faq, this guide will deal with Pugly's scavenger hunt, a port from the SNES/Genesis Addams family made by Ocean. At least a part is ported anyway because there isn't any music, there aren't any backgrounds and they've cut a lot in some levels. In this game you'll control Pugsly and you have to save your family from the Judge, the game isn't linear so you can choose yourself where you'll start. All in all its a pretty decent platformer but the SNES/Genesis versions are better. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Story ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uncle Fester's lost his memory and has fallen under the spell of Abigail Graven, who wants to use him to get the family's hidden fortune. With the help of uncle fester and assistants Tully and The judge she manages to capture and imprison the other members of the Addams family within the huge Addams mansion. Now only Pugsly can save the day by freeing his father Gomez, his sister Wednesday and Granny; and by restoring Uncle Fester's memory. After he's done that he must go to the underground vaults of the Addams mansion and confront the evil judge in a kooky and spooky climax. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Controls ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A: with this button you'll jump, and believe me you'll jump a lot in this game, the only way to kill enemies is to jump on there heads. Holding the A down when jumping on an enemy causes you to jump higher, this will be useful when you need to reach higher platforms. B: shuffle a bit to the right, I really don't know what this is good for, you only go a really tiny bit to the right so it really doesn't have a function. SELECT: shuffle a bit to the left, just like what happens when you press B, this function is totally useless. START: when you press start you will be able to see all of your statistics, the statistics are, Password Points Hearts Familymembers Lives Location Sweets ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Items ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shoes ----- When you pick up the shoe you will go a little bit faster, you will go faster until you get hit by an enemy, this item is pretty useless but you still can use it like extra energy Candy ----- Picking up 50 candy will give you a extra heart, picking up another 50 will give you an extra life. 1 up ---- The 1 up gives you an extra life. Fez-copter ---------- The fez-copter will give you the ability to fly, go up by pressing the jump button the whole time. The fez-copter will stay a pretty long time but it will go away almost immediately when you go trough a door. Heart ----- Collecting this will give you back a heart, you can get more hearts by defeating bosses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. This leads to the old tree where you have to fight the bird to get a heart 2. You can only enter this room when you've saved your family, it leads to the the hall of chains where you'll have to rescue Morticia. 3. This one brings you back outside where you can get some extra lives by going down the chimney. 4. In here you can get two things, Wednesday and a heart. 5. This is Pugsly's den, duck to enter it, you can get hearts, extra lives and some shoes in here. 6. The portrait gallery, this is where you'll have to free uncle fester. 7. In here you'll have to free Gomez, it's the game room. 8. In the kitchen (where a lot of areas are missing) you can get the heart by going to the left and you can get Grammy by going to the right. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Walkthrough ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= The beginning 6.1 ================= Addams residence o----------------o When the game starts you'll be standing outside the front door, the game can be pretty hard sometimes so it's good to have a lot of extra lives, go to the left and test out your gaming skills by killing the tree and the ghost by jumping on them. Climb in the rope and get the fez-copter, now fly to the right and go down the chimney, get the four extra lives and exit to the right. You can go back into the chimney to get some extra candy if you want, after that get some more candy outside and go into the house. Hall of stairs o--------------o Okay, so now you're in the hall of stairs, first take note that there's a hidden room (5) in the middle of the hall of stairs , just stand in the middle and press down to enter Pugslys den, there are 3 extra lives, a heart and some shoes in there, the heart and shoes are back anytime you re-enter the room so if you need some extra health go back there. Now the first to do is getting some more hearts, take the door to the left (1) to go outside. =================== The first heart 6.2 =================== The old tree o------------o To reach the boss go to the left and climb in the tree, once you're up you'll find the boss. The first boss is a bird, she will fly from the left to the right, unlike the Genesis/SNES version she doesn't try to drop eggs on your head so that's a thing you don't have to worry about. Stand on the highest branch and wait for the bird to come under you, jump on his head and repeat this until she is beaten. After you killed it, go back down and go trough the door back to the hall. ==================== The second heart 6.3 ==================== Hall of stairs o--------------o To get the second heart go to the kitchen (8), the kitchen is located on the highest floor to the right. The kitchen o-----------o Just go to the left and go trough the door. The snowman o-----------o This boss has a pretty easy pattern and only four health bars, first he'll throw snowballs at you and than he rolls at causing ice to fall down. Know that you can't hurt him when he's rolling so jump over him when he does that, if you're fast enough you can already hit him twice taking away half of his energy, after that he'll roll at you. The ice that falls down is also easy to avoid, when he is throwing snowballs at you again, jump on his head two more times to kill him. After you killed him walk to the right and go back to the main stairs. =================== The third heart 6.4 =================== The hall of stairs o------------------o Now for heart number three we will go to the conservatory (4), the conservatory is located in the middle to the right. Conservatory o------------o There is a hidden door below you that will take you to the end of this room, if you already have the heart and you want to free Wednesday than go trough that one to exit the room easier. If you want the heart and Wednesday than go to the right, be aware that you can't jump on the thing with the spike on his back. In one of the pots with the bombs laying on them is a secret room, duck to go in and get the shoes, candy and extra lives. Than go back and further to the right, get some more shoes, because you can always use them as more energy. After the part with the spiders you will see a button located above you, you can easily reach it if you have the shoes, if you don't have the shoes than you'll have to use the bird that is flying around there. Than go to the right and enter the first door you'll come across. Thorn pass o----------o Jump on the spider to get over the spikes, ignore the door for now and jump on the bird to get to the other side, after that jump over the next few spikes and press the button. Now you can reach the door in the beginning of the level, so head back and go trough the door. Wormy way o---------o Don't hit the switch but use the rabbit to go up, go to the right and use the platform to get over the spikes, at the place with the spiked enemy, bomb and candy are some hidden platforms in the air. Use them to get the candy. Go forward again and press the button to make the barrier disappear. Go forward and push the next button as well. Go further again and use the birds to get over the next few gaps as well, than use the ropes to get over the spikes, by the last few ropes you'll have to use the birds to go further, at the end go trough the door. The spider o----------o This boss is simple, when you come in the room you won't be able to avoid his attack, after he attacked he'll go to the right and attack again, than you have to go to the left and stand on the middle platform so that the things that the things he throws don't hit you, when he's in the middle jump on his head and don't go anywhere else. Once he back to the left go to the right middle platform, than when he's in the middle jump on him again, repeat this until he is death. After you beat him, go to the right to continue the level. ============= Wednesday 6.5 ============= Monster garden o--------------o Go to the right and push the button, go down and go to the left, get the heart if you need it and push another button. Go down again and go to the left, hit the switch and go to the right again, than go down. Stand on the pots and jump to hit some hidden platforms, than walk over to the button and push it, hit the boxes a bit to the left from the button to make them disappear and climb up, jump to the left and jump on the moving platform, than jump to make some platform appear under the extra lives and go to the right, hit the switch and search for another hidden platform. After that go to the left and get the extra lives, go back down and push the button, than go to the left and exit this room. Thorn pass o----------o Go down the rope and go trough the door. The long garden o---------------o Stand on the platform and wait until it brings you to the other side, than jump of, over the next few spikes is another moving platform, only this time you'll have to jump over a platform, the next ones will all be a bit harder but they shouldn't be a problem. Use the bird to get the heart and go further again, after jumping over some more spikes you'll come across a button. The button will open up a part a bit earlier in the room but you can only get some candy there so I wouldn't recommend going back to get it. After you got that done or not go further and go trough the door. The graveyard o-------------o The graveyard is a pretty straightforward path, just walk to the right and enter the mausoleum for another boss, pick up the heart at the end of the level first if you need it. A ghastly goblin o----------------o Not so hard, stay underneath him the whole time so that he can't hit you, jump on the left platform him when he gets a bit low and jump on him. After beating him go to the right, when you're outside again, go to the right and by the heart press down. Under graveyard o---------------o Go down and get the extra life to the right, than jump into the water and go to the left to get another extra life. After that go out of the water, walk to the left and go back in the water, swim totally to the left to enter a secret room with four extra lives, than go back and go out of the water by the first gap and go up, use the rabbit to get higher and go trough the wall where you can see the extra life and the hearts, get them and go to the left again and exit this part. Under the tree o--------------o You can go two ways here but the upper way seems to be a bit easier so take that one, climb up a bit, use the rabbit to get the shield and if you need some more lives than go up a bit more and use the bat to get on the higher platform, get the lives and go to the left, go up a bit more and exit the tree. When you're out, walk to the left and exit the level. ================ Uncle fester 6.6 ================ Hall of stairs o--------------o Go to the portrait gallery (6) that is located on the left in the middle. Portrait gallery o----------------o Kill the birds and go further, this level is pretty straight forward, walk further until you come at the place with the spikes, jump on the platform and get the candy and the heart but be careful that you don't get pushed of by the other platform. Go further, jump onto the middle of that table to reach the higher platform. Get the shoes and go a bit forward, go trough the door and go to the right and exit this part. The armory o----------o Be careful not to get hit by the big mace, just make a big jump over it, go further and be careful for more swinging maces and sword throwing knights. Jump over the bear and the gap, kill the knight and get the heart, jump over the two gaps and push the button to remove the blockade. Go further, jump over the bear and kill the knight. Than go on the platform and duck so that you don't get pushed off, than jump over platform in the middle and duck again, when you're back on save ground again, walk further and push the button, than stand on the platform that appeared and jump a bit to the left to reach a hidden room. Get all the stuff and exit the room. Hall of clocks o--------------o Use the ghosts to get to the other side and get the heart, push the button and use the platforms that just appeared to get to the other side. Don't push the next buttons and walk forward, than when you reach a big gap with spikes, jump a bit forward to find a hidden platform that you can use to get to the other side, you can also go back a bit and push the button above the bears head if the platforms didn't appear below yet. Go forward, if you haven't pushed the button than the blockade will be gone and you can go down a secret tunnel, on the left and right are some hearts. Go further again and get another heart on top of that bear if you need it. Jump over the clocks and exit this part of the level. The weaponry o------------o Jump trough the guillotines and over the maces, push the button and go to the right using the platforms until you reach the middle, you'll probable push the button that removes the platforms, when you do, land on the ghost and push the button again, go further after that. Push the button if a blockade blocks your path, get the shoes and go further, walk slowly past the maces and jump to the other side using the springs, by the next part with springs and spikes close to each other, don't jump but just walk normally. Than take the lower path to exit this level. Fly, Fly, Fly o-------------o The name of the level already reveals that you're going to be flying a lot in this level, walk forward and push the button, get the fez-copter and fly forward trough a part with lots of birds, this part isn't so hard, just don't jump on birds when they are right below the spikes. The next part after getting the second fez-copter is a bit harder, it is best to stay a bit low by the fast moving blocks so you can get past it fast. After that get the hearts and fly further, watch out for the bombs, go past them quickly before they explode, after some ghosts the end of the level is near. Lower gallery o-------------o The level starts of with a lot of knights, try to take the upper path because there you won't have trouble with enemies above you. Then use the ghost to get over the gap and don't push the button but use the stuff that comes out of the bear's mouth to get up the higher platform, now you can still get the extra life. Jump trough the guillotine and walk carefully past the swinging maces, then when you reach the bear, go into its mouth and get the hearts and extra lives. Than get out and walk past a load of enemies and jump over some spikes, jump over some more spikes and go trough the door. The library o-----------o Climb up and go to the left to find a secret room with candy, than go out and go the right, somewhere in the middle of the level is a shield hanging in the air, climb on all the books to get to the top and get it. Than go further to the right, the last part should be easy now with the shield. The reading room o----------------o You can see the door clearly above you, go a bit forward and get the fez-copter, than fly back and go trough the door. You'll enter a secret level, kill the enemies and get the hearts and candy, than go out and go to the right again. Get the fez-copter and just fly over everything to the end of the room. The big books o-------------o Go to the right and climb on top of the books to go further, get the shoes if you want them, you can probable use the extra energy anyway. Than go further again, kill the knight and go trough the door to exit the library and to enter the... The train room o--------------o This part is pretty easy, jump over the ones where you can jump over, stand on the pipe when you can't jump over the spikes because there too high and duck on the pipe when you duck under it or jump over it. The witch o----------o Use uncle Fester's head to go high enough to jump on the witch, meanwhile be careful that she doesn't hurt you with her lighting bolts. After that, exit on the right and get some extra lives, than go trough the door. ========= Gomez 6.7 ========= Hall of stairs o--------------o Go trough the door above the Portrait gallery (7). The play room o-------------o Go to the right and jump over the spikes, immediately duck so that the ball doesn't hit you, than go further and jump trough the guillotine, after that are some swinging maces, just jump over them when they're under the floor. After some more maces, balls and guillotines you'll come across a cannon, use the bullets that he fires to get the heart and do the same with the other cannon to get the other heart and to reach to reach the higher platform, when you reach the door stand on it and press up to enter a secret room. The toy box o-----------o Jump on the right door and jump again to get out of the box, get the hearts and extra lives and than go trough the door to the right. The rack o--------o Carefully walk over the springs so that the ball doesn't hit you, the next part is a bit harder because the ball swings the other way, try to jump over it. At the next part with the spikes and swinging maces, you'll have to be quick, or try to make a big jump over it. After the bomb there will be more swinging balls, jump over them and go further to the right, after the part with the cannons you'll see the door, stand on it again and press up. You will reach a room called 'rack them up', get the candy and go out again. Then go trough the door. The toy tower o-------------o Not much to see or to do here, just go to the other side and go trough the door. The play room o-------------o This level starts with some moving maces, time your jumps carefully and you'll survive, get the heart by using the cannon if you want to, although it's not really worth it. Quickly run past the bombs, after the bombs a very fast spinning ball will be in your way, try to jump over it quickly and use the bullet from the cannon to get to the other side of the spikes. At the end stand on the door again and enter another door where you can get an extra life, than go back and enter the other door below. Wacky scientist o---------------o He'll float around in the room and you can't hit him when the blades are floating above his head, after a while he'll launch all the blades in all the directions. Jump on his head when he does that while his blades aren't covering his head, after that go to the right and get all the candy. ========== Granny 6.8 ========== Hall of stairs o--------------o To reach granny's stove go back to the kitchen (8) and go to the right. Granny's stove o--------------o Walk to the right and go up, there is a secret wall to the right, go in and exit on the ground to the left. Get the extra life and go up and go to the left again, hit the switch and go back to where the way was blocked. Go down the stove. The furnace o-----------o Whoa, I guess the stove is a bit bigger from the inside then from the outside. Go down and watch out for the flames, hit the left-most button and go up again, go to the right at the path what just opened up for a short-cut. The grill o---------o Press the button under you so that the blockade disappears, walk to the right and watch out for flamethrowers and the fireballs. Push the next button when you reach it but only push it when the ring of fire around it isn't near you, then go further and get the heart, after that comes a really empty part, just walk to the right avoiding some rings of fire and exit this level to reach the boss. The fire dragon o---------------o This boss is pathetic, just stand on the left platform and wait until the boss gets near you, jump on his head when it does and when he goes to the middle to attack you go to the corner and duck to avoid it. After that go back on the platform and start over again, once you've killed him go to the right again and get the three lives. Than go trough the door to get back in the kitchen, walk to the left and enter the hall of stairs again. ============ Morticia 6.9 ============ Hall of stairs o--------------o For the last level enter the room you couldn't enter before, go down and enter the middle room. The chain room o--------------o Use the chains to go to the right and go trough the door. The piranha tank o----------------o Go down into the water and watch out for the fish, swim to the right and swim up, once you're up go trough the door. Amazing chains o--------------o Go to the left and jump on the chain, than jump trough the spikes and grab the other chain, climb up another chain and go to the left into the small part in the wall, press the button so that it's off and jump back trough the spikes again, than hang on the lowest part of the chain and jump on the save ground. Climb up and jump from chain to chain and go trough the door. Hall of chains o--------------o Go to the right and use the chains to get over the spikes, jump over the gap and try not to fall in because you'll end up in piranha tank again, than jump over some more spikes and go trough the door. The steps down o--------------o Go down and get the candy on your way down, once you're down go trough the door on the left and get the candy and hearts. After that go out and go trough the door on the right. The vault o---------o Go to the left first for some candy, hearts and a extra life, than go to the right and exit trough the door for the final battle. The Judge o---------o The last boss is a bit harder than all the other bosses you've fought, he jumps trough the room from the left to the right, and every once in a while things will fall down, I recommend standing on one of the highest platforms. From there attack him the whole time and go stand on the most left or right platform when the things fall down. Keep on doing this until he dies and watch the crappy ending. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.
