You fly an airship called an SYD and you fly through 13 very tough stages before the game returns to level 1. There is however a trick to skip the very last level though and it's both a good and a bad thing. You already now the bad part was going back to level 1 instead of getting a real ending. The good part is that you'll skip that boss-a-thon that makes up level 13 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Controls ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-pad: move in any direction B button: fire laser A button: fire a missile Select button: armor subscreen Start button: pause ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Armor ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are 8 armors that consume your energy depending on which armor you have on. Thunder use 8 energy point and kills everyone on screen instantly and that includes the bosses except for the level 6 and 12 boss which require six good hits. Shield consumes 1 energy point at a time per few seconds. Octo fires 8 lasers at the same time and in 8 directions uses 1 energy point at a time per few seconds. The fire holds a flame in front of the ship and last longer if the ship is not hit by enemy fire. Nuclear fire a small missile that explodes on contact and uses up 4 energy points. Homing missiles home in on the enemy and use 1 energy point at a time per few seconds. Canon fires 8 lasers at the same time in a wall formation. It uses up 1 energy point at a time per few seconds. Paralyser holds a paralysis beam ahead of the ship. Don't know what its use is yet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Powerups ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F = uncover all other power ups E = 2 energy towards weapons W = Warp ahead R = Warp back S = speed up L = increase laser power M = increase missile power K = keep weapons after death ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Info ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You start the game with 3 SYDs, these are considered lives. You lose one each time you are hit by enemy fire or collide with an enemy. In addition to powerups, there are also power downs backwards E = takes away 4 energy backwards K = takes away weapons and speed C = takes everything away avoid these at all costs Each armor uses a certain amount of energy per use refer to the Armor section for more on this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gameplay ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the start of the game, you'll find an F powerup in the middle. Get it when it's safe and get the S first on the right then the L on the left. Use lasers on the ships and the missile on the turrets below. The best way to defeat the cloud ship is to let it pass through. There is an R near the end of the level. Grab it if you need more energy or avoid it if you have enough. The first boss is a bug head with three tentacle sticking out. It flies in a figure eight pattern almost. Use a fire armor and hold the flame over it to destroy it quickly. You can defeat it with normal shots too if you are lucky to avoid its shots. There are 2 backwards Ks and a C to start level 2. Watch out for the little kamikaze ships that zip in on you. There seem to be many powerdowns to start the level period. Just like the first level, there is an R in case you want to go back. The boss of level 2 rains metors onto you and can also shoot three spheres too. Fire works here too assuming you saved it for this boss instead of the other boss. Level 3 starts with a W on the right to start the level. Grab it to move ahead a portion of the level. The enemies here start shooting homing fire at you, so be careful from this point on. The boss of this level fights similar to the boss of level 2 and you can shoot it with any armor that does damage if you like. It is easier to use lasers on it that the other boss too. Level 4 has a W powerup early on. Because of the homing spheres, it helps to fly a circle in one safe direction then a circle in another direction depending on where there is no dangerous spot. The boss is somewhat like a worm, aim your shots at the head piece. It interchanges between a figure eight and a snake pattern. This is the easiest of the bosses to defeat with normal laser shots as the shots it fires are easiest to avoid. There are 2 W powerups in Level 5 and they are each next to 2 R powerups. So do you want to go back or go forward. At least you advance a long way even ending up in level 6 without any indication. Watch out for enemies coming from behind. The boss requires three Thunder shots to defeat it in record time. From here on the level repeats themselves in level 7 to 12. Big difference is that the level 11 boss which you should have fought in level 5 can be fought here. Its a cloud boss that reappear and disappears and rains fireballs. You should have no problem with this guy either. If you defeated the level 12 boss the easy way which was the same as in Level 6, you fight a boss a thon in level 13. Otherwise you warp to level 1. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Genie codes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SXSPYZVG Infinite lives PASATLLA Start with 1 life TASATLLA Start with double lives PASATLLE Start with triple lives NYKAYLLE Start with all weapons available GZNAILSA Keep power up after death GZNAYLSA Keep energy after death GAEOUEAA Thunder uses 25% normal energy TEXLPTZA Triple energy gained on 'E' pick-up ZEULGTGA Less energy lost on 'Bad E' pick-ups SZEGGASA Shield doesn't use energy IZNAEGSA You can re-use weapon after selecting Warning, don't use these codes with the rom.
