This is not your standard dice-style game, however. You do not roll any dice here. Instead, you CAPTURE them by matching them from the incoming dice numbers. Think upside-down Tetris with dice! Heh. Strangely enough, I find the Game Boy version to be a LOT more harder than the NES version. Except for the difficulty, they are almost identical except for the colors. So, if you don't like the NES version because it's simply too hard, try the GB version instead! Have fun! ============================================================================== 2) Basics ============================================================================== _________________ Gameplay Controls ----------------- Up: None Left/Right: Move Character Down: Use Dice to erase lines (explained in "The Blocks" section) A: Throw Dice B: Change Dice # Start: Confirm selections in menus Select: None NOTE: When changing the number of your dice, keep in mind that it can only go up in number except when the number is 6, which will revert back to 1. You cannot go backwards in number like 4 to 3. ____________ Game Options ------------ 1 Player: Select from 5 stages (Stage 1 as the slowest, 5 as the fastest) to play solo. There is no end to this, like Tetris. Just rack up points and be proud of your high score! Or not... 2 Players: Need a Link Cable and another Palamedes cartidge for this. You will be pitted against a friend and play mad Palamedes! Every line you erase with the left-over dice will be moved to your opponent's screen! Try to force his dice to overload before he does it to you! Tournament: First, you will have to select from "3 Set", "5 Set", or "7 Set". The Set are the numbers that can be played to determine the winners. Like the best-of-X series in sports, you need to win 2 in the 3 set, 3 of 5 set, or 4 in 7 set to advance in the tournament. Go for the championship! __________________________ Gameplay Screen - 1 Player -------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- |o |o | |o o|o o|o o| | | | o | | o |o o| o | | | | | o| o| |o o|o o|o o| | HI | < All-time high score. |----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- | 000000 | Once you turn off the | | | portable, the high | | | score will be erased. | | SC | | | 000000 | < Current Score | | | | | | | | STAGE | < Stage #: Speed of the | G A M E S C R E E N | 01 | blocks will increase | | | as Stage # goes up. | | LINES | | | 14 | < Lines that have yet to | | | enter the screen | | | remaining. | ----- | | | | | | | | | o | | ----- | | | | | | | | | ----- | | o | | < Current number you are | \o/ | | | | holding | | | ----- | | / \ | | ------------------------------------- ------------- | | | ' L E F T O V E R S ' | | | ------------------------------------- ____________________________ Gameplay Screen - Tournament ---------------------------- ----------------------------- ----------------------------- |o |o | |o o|o o| |o |o | |o o|o o| | o | | o |o o| o | | o | | o |o o| o | | o| o| |o o|o o| | o| o| |o o|o o| |----- ----- ----- ----- -----| |----- ----- ----- ----- -----| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Y O U R S C R E E N | | O P P O N E N T | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ----- | | ----- | | | | | | | | | | | o | | | | o | | | | | | | | | | | ----- | | ----- | | \o/ | | \o/ | | | | | | | | / \ | | / \ | ----------------------------- ----------------------------- | | | | | ' L E F T O V E R S ' | | ' L E F T O V E R S ' | | | | | ----------------------------- ----------------------------- *Note that you only have 5 blocks in a row this time. ============================================================================== 3) How to Play Palamedes ============================================================================== __________ The Blocks ---------- As you know, there are 6 sides and numbers on a dice. Therefore, there will be six possible numbers that will come up on your screen. Your mission is to match those numbers with their own number. If there is a dice with three dots, you have to change your own dice to 3 and throw it up there. The dice up above will be erased. The same goes for all numbers. There will be several lines coming down after one another so you have to be quick about it. However, there is an unique feature to this: every dice you 'match' will be put to the 'leftover' part of the screen, on the bottom. Those numbers can be used to erase line or lines without matching them. To 'release' the combination in the leftovers, press down. Up to five lines can be erased at once! That would make your journey MUCH, MUCH easier. In 1P, there will be six spaces available for this. In tournaments, there will be five. _______________ Color of Blocks --------------- 1 --- Blue 2 --- Green 3 --- Pink 4 --- Purple 5 --- Yellow 6 --- Red So what is so important about the colors? This allows you to recognize the blocks more easier and faster. Rather than counting the spots on the dice, you can just glance at the color and match the dice with it. So that's WHY it's important! :P _______________________ Dice Combinations Table ----------------------- *Remember, those combinations has to be in your 'leftover' part of the screen, not on the top screen. COMBINATION | EXAMPLE | LINES ERASED | ------------------------------------------------------------------ 3 of the same number | 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 6 | 1 Line | in a row | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------| 4 of the same number | 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6 | 2 Lines | in a row | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------| 5 of the same number | 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 2 | 3 Lines | in a row | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------| 6 of the same number | 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 | 4 Lines | -----------------------------------------------------------------| 3 consecutive numbers | 4, 5, 6, 3, 2, 6 | 1 Line | in a row | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------| 4 consecutive numbers | 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 | 2 Lines | in a row | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------| 5 consecutive numbers | 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5 | 3 Lines | in a row | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------| 6 consecutive numbers | 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 | 5 Lines! | in a row | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------- __________ How to Win ---------- 1 Player: There will be a set number of lines waiting for you, as seen as "Lines" on the right side. You have to clear all of the lines without allowing a block get in the bottom row. 2 Players or Tournament: You have to out-survive your opponent. Use your leftovers up to flood your opponent's screen! Whoever allows a block in the last row loses. __________ Strategies ---------- -Do not 'count' your blocks... just know what number your dice is on without looking. Just concentrate on the blocks above. Also, each number has their own unqiue color/shade, so just glance at your dice and match the colors with the dice above. -Always go for the same numbers in the row first. -After that, just cycle through your dice while taking out all of the possible numbers in a row. Don't take the "1" dice then "6" and then a "2"! Just take the "1" then the "2" before taking the higher numbers. You are wasting your time if you just randomly pick off numbers. -Do not waste your 'leftovers'! Watch for the same numbers in a row and use them to make your life easier! Especially in the tournaments, you NEED to use the full advantage of the leftovers to win! -Every dice you match will yield you 10 points. Every dice you 'erase' with your leftover will yield you 20 points. ============================================================================== 4) Tournament ============================================================================== In the tournament, you will face an arsenal of challenging opponents in a field of 16 players. If you want the grand championship, you will have to win 4 straight matches. First, you will have to select the number of maximum games per match. Set 3: First to win 2 will advance Set 5: First to win 3 will advance Set 7: First to win 4 will advance The bracket: | _____________|_____________ Championship | | ______|______ ______|______ 3rd round | | | | ___|___ ___|___ ___|___ ___|___ _|_ _|_ _|_ _|_ _|_ _|_ _|_ _|_ 2nd round | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X 1st round ============================================================================== 5) Fin ============================================================================== Disclaimer ---------- I don't mind having my FAQs posted on other sites, but I don't fancy having them posted without my knowledge.
