But this has a difference. Mario is in it (he is the umpire.) So its a Mario game. And all Mario games are awesome. The graphics in this are pretty bad. It has some nice animations, like the backward smash and the way Mario moves his head when umpiring but they are nothing compared to games like SMB3. They are about as good as an atari 7800 game. The Music is good, while it lasts. There is only music in the title screen. But at least its good music. The effects are just beeps and bangs and the occasional boing and they get really annoying, especially because when you run it goes beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep etc. But it is a very challenging game, which should keep you going for weeks.Espescially on level 2 or up. Unfortunately, this games controls are awful. The CONTROLS are good, but are slow, sloppy and unresponsive. Like if you swing to hit it, you never know where it's going, and the ball also always hits you. The game is fun, but nothing compared to the Mario & Virtual Tennis' of this world. 2.GAME BASICS Here I give you some basic infomation about the game,Like stuff you'd mostly stuff you find in the instruction manual for Tennis. But hey,Who can be bothered reading 'em? There are 2 modes Singles & Doubles. In single you're against a computor, and in doubles you and a friend are against the computor. i.CONTROLS Up- Move up Down- Move down Left- Move Left Right- Move right A button-Hit the ball B button-Lob the ball START- Pause game - Choose game type SELECT- Select game type at main menu ii.CONTROL NOTES -You aim by where you stand and if you do a forehand or backhand -To serve, when the ball is thrown up, hit it either straight away, or when it's coming down -When serving if you try to hit it when it is to far up in the air you will have a swing and miss it, it is a fault iii.STORY StoryT?T You DO know that this a sports game right? iv.CHARACTES Here I will just describe what the characters wear. PLAYER 1 Hair-Black Shirt-Blue Shorts-Black Shoes-Blue Raquet-Blue & Black PLAYER 2 Hair-Brown Shirt-White Shorts-Brown Shoes-White Raquet-Brown & white COMPUTOR 1 Hair-Brown Shirt-Green Shorts-Brown Shoes-Green Raquet-Green and Brown COMPUTOR 2 Hair-Brown Shirt-Green Shorts-Brown Shoes-Green Raquet-Green and Brown MARIO Hat-White Shirt-Black Shorts-White Shoes-Black Raquet-N/A v.DIFFICULTY 1.Very easy 2.Easy 3.Medium 4.Hard 5.Super vi.SHOTS Here I will list all the types of shots and some strategy for using them STRAIGHT SHOT-Just your normal shot. Use it to go down the line to win a point LOB SHOT-A "lob" shot is a very high shot you use to get over the person at the net SMASH-A 'smash" can only be performed at the net. Try to aim it for a more effective shot. BACKWARD SMASH-This is just a smash that looks classy and almost always goes to th right. SERVE-The shot to start off the point. You cannot aim it, so just serve it. vii.SCORING In this game you have to win 2 sets to win a match You have to win 6 games to win a set You have to win at leasst 4 points to win a game (15, 30, 45, game) To win a game, your score must be at least 2 points higher than your opponent EXAMPLE 40-30 If you won this point, you would be ahead by 2 points. But if your opponent won the point, the score is 40-40, it goes into deuce. In deuce, you have to win 2 points in a row. If you win 1 point, you go to advantage (A) If you win the next point you win the game. But if your opponent is on A and you win a point, it goes back to deuce. If the score is 5 games all, and you win a game, it goes to 6-5. If you win another game it goes to 7-5 and you win the set. If it is 6-6, a tiebraker occurs. In a tiebraker, it is a little like a game. you have to get to 7 and be in front by 2 or more points. If you are not in front by 2 points, you keep on going until you are. You take turns serving. 3.RULES Here I will list all the rules. i.SERVING -You must serve it to the square diagonal to you -If it hits the net it is a fault -If it does not land in the square it is a fault -If you through it up, then miss it, it is a fault -If you get 2 faults yo lose a point -If you serve it and your opponent dosn't hit it, it is an ace and you get a point -If your opponent hits the serve on the full, it is your point -If your partner hits the ball when (s)he's not supposed to, its there point ii.OTHER RULES -If you hit it out, you lose the point -If the ball hits the net, you lose a point -If the ball bounces 2 times, you lose a point -If the ball hits you, you lose a point -If you jump over the net and bash your opponent, you lose the match 4.THE COURT i.Singles LEGEND =-Net ----Baselines 1-Where you start off 2.Where the computor starts off ----------------- | |2 | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ================= | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | 1 | | ----------------- OR ----------------- | | 2 | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ================= | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | 1 | | ----------------- It basically makes no difference for which side you are on ii.Doubles LEGEND =-Net ---baselines 1-Player 1 2-Player 2 3-Com.1 4-Com.2 ----------------- | | 4 | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 3 | | ================= | | | | | | | 2 | | | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | 1 | | ----------------- OR ----------------- | | 4 | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | 3 | | | ================= | | | 2 | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-----------| | | | | | | | 1 | | ----------------- There are heaps more possibilities, but I won't list them 5.DIFFICULTY 1-5 FAQ Here I will provide some info, strategies and stuff for all 5 levels i.LEVEL 1 This level is very easy. All you need to do is serve it and have a small rally until he screws it up. He uses straight shots mostly, but occasionally he'll do a lob for no reason. A very easy way to win a point is to just serve, then attack the net. Or hit his serve and hit it to the other side of the court. He just won't get it. ii.LEVEL 2 This is basically a very souped up version of level 2. try to add a few lob shots to throw him off course. Attacking the net also works very well. iii.LEVEL 3 This guy loves playing the net. The key is long lobs. They should be easy points for you. He also does the occasional lob shot to throw you off. iv.LEVEL 4 Now this guy HATES playing the net, so it is a good idea to do that. If you do not play the net, it is a bit like pong. v.LEVEL 5 This guy is like the TX in Terminator 3. He has no weaknesses. Occasionally he may double fault so you can pick up a couple of points there. It just takes pure skill to beat this game. Be warned; it is very hard to play the net. 6.DIFFICULTY 1-5 DIFFERENCES here I will just list the differences between the 5 difficulties. -The speed increases -The computors use more strategie -It gets harder (duh) 7.FREQUENNTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Here I will just answer questions Q:What does the tennis court look like? A:See section "the courts", or here it is ------------------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | --------------------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |-------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------- Q:Havn't I seen that umpire somewhere before? A:Yes, he's Mario Q:If he's Mario, why is he wearing white? A:I dunno, mabye he plans on shooting fireballs or something Q:My shots keep on going out. Any suggestions? A:Position yourself so you hit the ball on an angle Q:Is game on another console? A:Yes, it is also on the Gameboy and recently came out on the E-reader Q:Can you control any other characters A:Nope Q:Can I play doubles in 1 player? A:No, you can only play singles Q:Can you play as Mario? A:No Q:Why isn't Luigi an umpire? A:He hasn't been invented yet Q:How do I aim my serves? A:You cannot Q:Are there any hacks for this game? A:Yes, one called Riddle Tennis where your opponent is batman and the ball is a ?. Q:Is this the best Tennis game on the NES? A:It's alright, but I prefer Jimmy connors tennis more. It is more arcadey. However, I do NOT recomend Racket attack. It sucks harder than an aardvark on steroids. For a more realistic Tennis game (if slightly dull) I recomend Rackets & Rivals. 8.GAME GENIE CODES There are no Game Genie codes for this game 9.CONCLUSION In conclusion I would like to thank My sister Kate-She helped with the heading Nintendo-For creating the NES and Tennis Linkin Park-For providing some GOOD music My mum-for reading the 1st draft All things in this game are copywrite Nintendo 1983
